Emacs Productivity System
ActiveA plain-text productivity system built in Emacs that handles writing, research, task management, and AI — documented across 15+ blog posts.
Over several years I’ve built a productivity system inside Emacs that handles writing, research, task management, AI interaction, and publishing — all in plain text.
This isn’t a single project but an evolving ecosystem. The core idea is simple: plain text is the most durable, portable, and AI-friendly format for knowledge work. Everything else follows from that.
Org-mode handles the day-to-day — TODO lists, meeting notes, time tracking, long-form writing. AI tools like gptel bring Claude directly into the editing buffer, so assistance happens where the work happens. Elfeed keeps RSS reading in the same focused environment. It all compounds over time.
I write about this a lot because it’s genuinely changed how I work, and I think the principles apply well beyond Emacs.
